Yep, its true, its true...I have still not lost a gmae in any sport to another AISD school. Tonight we beat Manvel 51-34 in our first basketball game of the year. Overall it was a very impressive performance for the first game.

Look at my post from June 4th. I am ashamed.

I cannot believe how resilient the 'stros are. I am so proud for Biggio and Bagwell, those guys are class acts, and deserve to be at the pinnacle of their profession.

I also can't believe how a game can effect some many people so profoundly. My school was so excited to day. Teachers, students, admin...over a freaking game. I love baseball. I heard a story this morning about a man's father who is 81 years old and has been a Colt .45/Astro fan since day 1, and was so excited that the Astros were making another run. Late last week his dad had a stroke and has lost most of his motor skills and is bed-ridden in the hospital, unable to speak. Last night they were able to get a TV in the room so him, his father, and his mother could watch the game together, since the doctors have given his father less than a week. Once the game ended, with the Astros victorious, the man, unable to speak, was in tears.

I only wish that when it comes that time for me, that I can experience something so moving, something that I have waited my entire life for.

I know not eveyone feels the way I do about sports, but sports do teach great lessons about life, responsibility, teamwork, compassion, dedication. Without sport, I dont know what life would be like.

Guess whos back, back again

Sorry ya'll but I am back to work now, and it SUCKS!!!!

I am glad I get summer break for the rest of my working life.

Oh yeah, remember my post acouple times ago about the Astros. I wont mention what I said, but I am starting to thik that I didnt write that at all, because they are so totally kicking ass right now.

I have to be to school at 5:30 Monday morning for football two-a-days. NOT FUN. I think I am gonna go to bed now so I might be able to wake up. WAIT! I forgot, I have 'stros tickets for tonight. I'm gonna go boo Beltran.

Ok, so I got back from my trip to Abilene/Six Flags over Texas yesterday. Myself and two other teachers took three kids on a pretty sweet road trip. We left Houston and set out for one of my fellow coaches parents house's in Abilene. Suprisingly, I was very impressed by that city. Very nice scenery,a dn there is plenty to do in the city. Then on Tuesday we drove the 2 1/2 hours to Arlington and spent the whole day at Six Flags. I dont think I have ever done that, 10-10 as a paying customer. It was tough, but we had a blast. Myself and one of my students topped the list, riding 38 coasters. When we got home (at 2:30 in the morning) and I went to sleep, I layed in bed and still felt like I was on a roller coaster.

Well summer break is here. Becky and I got it started off right by heading to the ATX for a weekend (no car accidents this time.) Actually it was for a wedding Friday night, but we turned it into a weekend none the less. Special thanks to Sarah (with an h) for letting us crash on her futon. Let me just say that her apartment might be the coolest place ever.

I certainly ate well the whole weekend, Dirty's for lunch Saturday, Shady Grove for dinner, then Juan in a Million for breakfast on Sunday. I was stoked...and full.

On a sadder note, one of my best friends from high school lost his battle with cancer this weekend. It is so tough to see someone that I grew up with and always admired for his strength and leadership qualities go so young. This isnt supposed to happen, right? He was only 25. It seems like just yesterday that we were on the basketball court together. Life is strange. He is in a better place, I hope. RIP Joey - We will never forget you.
